Web 2.0 is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

By: admin

Yes, web 2.0 helped me find the spelling of that.

It is simply amazing how web 2.0 has affected the world and almost everyone understands it (especially bloggers) so I won’t just reiterate it. I want more people to understand the magnitude of change it has brought to the world and it’s culture. The interlinking of the web has created an ‘internet culture’ of strong influence onto the world in a very short period of time. I call it a true revolution of the people by the people and will probably get coined some fancy title like the Enlightenment soon in the course of history. The fact that news (blogs) and entertainment (youtube) and even personal information (facebook) is so accessible, we as humans are learning so much about the world and each other. And that is how we plan to get the world to hear us.

Sure you can call us ‘just another attention-hogging blog’. But we are taking it serious and are willing to commit to the hard work. We are only in high school and see great things coming for us. This is our dream and web 2.0 is key. There are also negative effects of web 2.0 (cough4chancough) as well but I’ll talk about that in another post ;D

~Kevin X

By the way, “The machine is us” is the best way of explaining web 2.0 ever.

Stress- Friend or Foe?

By: admin

There’s just a few hours left until that big exam you’ve prepared a month for. But there is one major problem. The preparation you went through primarily comprised of playing video games and sleeping. You look around at your classmates and can feel their worry. However you are sure they have spent hours studying, while you may have spent a total of one hour roughly reading over the material. You are stressed out of your mind. This is my typical self right before an exam.

You may think I’m crazy. Actually, I probably am crazy. However, because of the stress I go through I perform better on that exam. Believe it or not, I even perform better than if I had studied for several more hours.

Stress drives me, it’s that simple. When I’m stressed out, I enter a state that’s more focused and intense. Things start to make more sense, and my thoughts become clearer. I feel more motivated, and feel ready for the task at hand.

I’ve always been told by my friends that I perform better under stress. One day I had to play a violin piece in front of my orchestra class so I could get performance experience for when I had to play at NYSSMA. For those of you who don’t know, NYSSMA is a festival where you play a difficult piece in front of judges who give you a rating from 0 to 100. This score usually determines your placement in higher level orchestras and other musical events. Well, I’m terrified of performing, and it’s needless to say that I was dead nervous before I got up in front of the class. But once I got up in front of the class and started to play the music just flowed right out of me. Some friends of mine who I practice with approached me after the performance, and after hearing the musical piece a hundred times before told me this one was by far the best one.

I understand that in college studying is necessary and if you aren’t prepared for a test you are in trouble. However I’ll deal with that when the time comes.

Maybe I’m just insane, or weird. I have no clue. If there is anyone else out there like me just leave a comment =)

Connecting the human lifelines

By: admin

I wish I had connections… real connections that could get me a job or bring me to amazing places or even box seats to a baseball game. But for some reason I don’t. I am a first-generation born son in America and I have to establish my own roots.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my parents and all they have done for me. They risked a lot coming here and formed their own lives pretty well as well as raised a great family. But maybe it is because of the area I live in that makes me feel like I wish I knew more important people. I am surrounded by other kids with parents as doctors, researchers, and even millionaires. And then they gain more friends and favors and I feel more out of the loop. Of course I would be jealous sometimes but there’s nothing I can really do about it so I tend not to care. But maybe this is why I try so hard to make a name for myself. Since I don’t have a legacy to follow I will create my own.

It’s no one’s fault that I am where I am today. It was simply a stroke of luck that I was even raised in a ‘normal’ standard of living. But whenever I hear of other people meeting extraordinary people or going to extravagant places simply because of a connection, I wish I had that. So I decided to put matters into my own hands and try to become someone important. If there was any opportunity to go somewhere or do something out of the ordinary, I would take it and hope for the best. I take every opportunity as a chance for great things to happen so this is what this blog has become. A chance for great things to happen.

I tend to get overly ecstatic whenever I meet anyone I consider famous. This can be anyone from a CEO to a famous blogger! I consider them famous because they have the power to influence a large amount of people just by doing something they love. I only shook hands with the CEO of Zinch and didn’t even know he was that big of a deal at the time! And I only talked to 17 year-old entrepreneur/college sophomore Jessica Mah on Gtalk but that makes me feel important. Even though I know she’s just another teenager, I treat every conversation with her special because what she wrote has affected so many other people including me. She was basically the person who sparked my interest in starting a blog thus the creation of CanTheWorldHearMe.

Maybe one day people will find me again and think “Oh I used to know that kid!” Or maybe I do have connections and I’m just being greedy. Maybe I’ll fail at making a legacy and all my efforts were a waste. Or maybe I’m just thinking too much. Well always expect the unexpected…

Yeah… we’re kinda poor

By: admin

So I’ve been researching ‘how to start a successful blog’ along with asking other blog owners and other things and the same thing keeps popping up. Get your own domain name and custom blog.

Well the truth of the matter is that we’re poor. Yeah I’ll admit it we’re poor. Not literally ‘financially’ poor but poor as in we’re only kids and don’t have credit cards and our parents don’t feel like funding a blog. So that means we have to use the WordPress blogging service and use a pre-set theme. We understand that this might make it look less professional and that there are probably thousands of users out there using this same exact theme but please stay with us. Our goal is to try to stand out from the rest so maybe if we get a huge amount of traffic and more success then our parents might have a change of mind and pay for a domain name or pay for custom CSS editing (yes WordPress makes us pay for that too).

Until then we are planning to get a new logo to replace the image above. Any ideas out there? Please leave a comment!

Inspiration

By: admin

CanGoogleHearMe - Our model and inspiriation.

You’ve probaby heard of the ingenius website that still attracts hundreds of viewers everyday. If you haven’t, then really go check it out, it’s worth it. But basically the guy who started it, Aaron Stanton, is our hero. He did what no one else would ever think of which was to pitch his idea straight to Google HQ by just flying there and sitting in their office like a baby until he got an appointment. But even more phenomenally, he got huge support in his efforts through literally thousands of emails until his dream became reality. He quotes it as “a miracle”.

His blog spawned spin-offs and parodies such as Canyoutubehearme and Canmyspacehearanyone. We are also taking the idea but adding a twist. This time we want the world to hear us. We’re young and full of potential so until the day we make it big, this blog will serve as our sandbox. We will gather ideas and at the same time write about snippets of our life. Since this blog has three owners, we will post separately over time adding our names at the bottom.

Today we launched an idea, we hope you look forward to hearing more from us!

Can You Hear Us?

By: admin

Two teens set out to impact the world. Sounds crazy doesn’t it?

Well that’s what we’re going to do. Kevin X and Josh B here. All you blog viewers out there and potential blog viewers remember those two names. We want the world to know who we are. That’s our dream.

We are not going to be like all those other bloggers. We have a dream and we’re going to make it reality. Dreams can only go so far and we are tired of it so we are taking action. Even while we are in high school we will stop at nothing to follow our dreams and make it out there in the real world.

Writing on this blog we hope to develop an innovative startup idea and turn that into reality. We heard the ‘90% of all business fail in the first 5 years’ so why not start now? We are going to try to get noticed in the blogging world and develop an idea that will impact the world.

So with that launches CanTheWorldHearMe. Well, can you?
